March 23 @ 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm
We are an FIRST LEGO League team called the Coding GOATs. Every year, we program a robot to complete missions on a game board and compete against other teams by scoring as many points as possible in a 2½ minute match. Additionally, we research a problem related to the yearly theme. Then we create an Innovation Project that can make a positive impact in our community. This year’s theme, Masterpiece, which is art-oriented, sparked our curiosity about musicians’ posture and how it affects their playing. We made and coded a working tilt sensor to monitor musicians’ posture and notify them when having incorrect form.
The hard work and dedication we put into our robot game and Innovation Project paid off when we competed at the local qualifier event in December, scoring high enough to earn the Champions award and move on to the State Championship. In January, we competed against 50 other teams from Iowa at Iowa State University. We received the 1st Place Champions award – the top honor at State. We now have the honor of representing Iowa at the 2024 FIRST Lego League Worlds Championship event in Houston, Texas, April 17-21. We’ll be competing against 200 teams from all over the United States and the world.
As exciting as this is, it is very expensive! This is why we are a putting on this bake sale. We will have our mission table and robot up and running. You can bring your instrument to test it on our tilt sensor.
Learn about the FIRST LEGO League program, meet our team, and get some baked goods! Nothing is priced and donations are not required but appreciated.
Thank you!
