The Hope of Easter

Does the world feel like an ugly place right now? Between the scary headlines and the personal heartbreaks, it can be hard to imagine something good coming out all the hurt and pain around us.

But this season, in the midst of the pastel colors and chocolate bunnies, there is true hope to be found – and it’s not just wishful thinking. It’s a rock-solid truth that there is a King who has already defeated the death and darkness of our world, who is bringing a new and better kingdom into our mess, and who invites us to be part of this beautiful restoration.

This King was born in a manger to a simple peasant girl, and spent thirty-three years ministering to a world that ultimately rejected him. The very ones he came to save were the ones who hung him on a cross. But he didn’t stay there. He came back from the dead and makes the incredible promise that death is not the end for us, either.

Where other kings establish their kingdoms through conquest and violence, King Jesus established his through self-sacrifice and resurrection. This Easter, we celebrate His victory and the new life we have in him.

For those of us who follow Jesus, our entire hope hinges on this belief that God became man, that he died, and that he came back from the dead.
